Program Booklet client: Smithsonian Institution National Air & Space Museum Pixel Panache: design, photo manipulation, production note: In this very moving presentation, WWII fighter pilot Quentin Aanenson talked of the terrible toll the War took on himself and his fellow flyers — 90 out of 125 pilots in his unit perished. To illustrate this, I combined a news photo of Aanenson and his wrecked plane with a ghostly group shot of him with his fellow pilots — the combined image shows the isolation of Aanenson as a survivor, walking away from both the wreck and his squadron mates. Printed in two colors — black and dark orange. I had seen Aanenson’s exceptional PBS documentary, and it was an honor to do the booklet for his lecture. You can read more about Quentin Aanenson at his website. |
